Woolen Diaper Covers – Jeannette Almstrøm

Posted on Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Cloth Diaper

When I gave birth to my second child twenty years ago, I was given a present that struck me as quite odd. Wool

Natural wool material is absolutely amazing. Wool can absorb liquid  up to 30% of its own weight before it will start leaking through, so it is an absolute great diaper cover cum soaker. Caring for your wool covers

Hand wash in a sink full of warm water (not too hot, it will shrink your wool) with 1 tablespoon of your favorite wool wash (amounts vary by brand, read your wool wash directions carefully). Gently massage water/soap solution through the cover. Empty the soapy water then refill with fresh warm water and gently massage /rinse the cover. Gently squeeze out the water without twisting (wringing) the cover and roll it up in towel. Apply some pressure to squeeze the excess water out and then lay flat to dry or hang to dry. (more…)
